My friends were talking about the election that had just happened in April 2021.  We were all in shock that only 13% of Springfield, MO registered voters had turned up to vote for the Mayor & 4 other positions on the City Council. Even more shocking was that the news called this a high turnout!!

  I asked a friend why she had not voted; & she said she did not know anything about the candidates, & did not want to vote for the wrong person.  I told her the meetings were online to watch; & she said she did not have the time to watch those long meetings.  I asked her if someone else watched the meetings, & gave a quick summary of them, so that she could know what was being decided; would that help  her to know the people running?  She said yes.

   The idea was to give out free lemonade at events in each of the city parks, & inform the 87% about who was running their city - in hopes of changing things for the better. To turn "lemons" into "lemonade".  We had almost visited all of the parks, when we were informed we could not give away free lemonade in the parks without a permit.  We tried doing them at the libraries; but could not always be sure we had a room available on our event days.  We wanted a North & South location for convenience; & now have permission to be in 2 locations - Godfathers on the Southside on the 1st Saturday of each month, & around National & Chestnut Expressway on the 3rd Saturday of each month.

  But what we kept hearing was "Could you please put this information online, so I can share it with other people?"  It took me awhile to be able to do that; because my life tends to be very busy.  But now I can finally welcome you to the Lemons To Lemonade website.  Feel free to share it with anyone you know, & let's get 100% of Springfield actively working to make this a better place to live!!  God Bless!! ^_^
